Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Children need a healthy brain-body connection to reach their full potential

Infants and children need a healthy brain-body connection to help them reach their full potential

A baby's brain doubles in size by their first birthday. The nervous system is growing, wiring, and building the foundation for everything that comes after. Sleep. Digestion. Immune function. Emotional regulation. Learning. Development. All of it traces back to how well that nervous system is functioning from the very beginning.

This is why pediatric chiropractic care isn't about waiting for something to go wrong. It's about giving your child's nervous system the best possible start, and the support to keep developing the way it's designed to.

From the moment of birth, your baby's nervous system is under stress. Even a straightforward birth places significant physical demands on a newborn's spine and cranium. Add in a long labour, a fast delivery, a posterior position, or any kind of intervention, and that stress increases. The body is incredibly resilient, but sometimes it holds onto that tension in ways that aren't always obvious right away.

Here's something important: when a baby or child seems to "grow out of" a phase, it doesn't always mean the underlying stress resolved. It often means the nervous system found a way to compensate. Over time, those compensations can show up differently, as trouble sleeping, difficulty focusing, frequent illness, emotional dysregulation, or just a general sense that something is a little off.

Pediatric chiropractic care works by identifying where the nervous system is holding onto stress and supporting the body to release and integrate it. When those pathways are clear and connected, kids adapt better, develop more fully, and thrive in ways that go far beyond any single symptom.

Why Kids Need Nervous System Care

Your child deserves to thrive from the very beginning

Not just to get through the hard phases, but to move through each stage of development with a nervous system that's regulated, connected, and fully supported. That's what we're working toward together.

What I Commonly See in Practice

Every child is different, but there are patterns I see regularly that respond really well to nervous system focused care. In babies and infants, that often looks like:

  • Difficulty latching or nursing on one side

  • Colic, unsettledness, or a baby who is hard to soothe.

  • Reflux, gas, or constipation.

  • A head preference to one side, torticollis, or flat spots developing on the skull.

  • Disrupted sleep or a baby who only settles in certain positions.

  • Poor tummy time tolerance.

In toddlers and older kids, it can look like:

  • Frequent illness or an immune system that seems to need extra support.

  • Sensory sensitivities.

  • Difficulty with focus or emotional regulation.

  • Retained primitive reflexes.

  • Growing pains or postural concerns.

  • A child who seems to be struggling in ways that are hard to put a finger on.

If you're reading this list and nodding, you're in the right place.

Gentle Care at Every Age & Every Stage

Adjusting a baby looks nothing like what most people picture when they think of chiropractic. With hundreds of hours of pediatric specific training and education, I use very light force throughout, and have specific adjusting tools I bring in when needed. The experience is safe, gentle, and comfortable for babies and children at every age and stage.

For infants, the approach is especially soft and subtle. Every contact point is chosen specifically to support nervous system function, with particular attention to the cranial bones, which hold a significant amount of tension after the birth process. Most babies settle during or right after their adjustment, and it's common for parents to notice their baby is calmer, sleeps better, or finally has that bowel movement they've been waiting for.

As kids get older, adjustments can look a little different. There's more variety in technique and more tools available depending on what that child's nervous system needs.

But the foundation stays the same. Every adjustment is neurologically focused, tailored specifically to that child, and always delivered at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for them. I check in with kids throughout and make sure parents always understand what I'm doing and why.

Whether I'm working with a three day old or a ten year old, the goal is the same: precise, gentle care that supports their nervous system to function at its best.

What to Expect

Your child's first visit starts with a thorough conversation about their health history, from pregnancy and birth through to where things are today.

From there we'll do an assessment and, where appropriate, an INSiGHT nervous system scan. For babies and very young children, I adapt the scanning process to what's suitable for their age and what will give us the most useful information. The goal is always to understand what's happening in their nervous system before we begin, so care is precise and purposeful from day one.

Visits are calm, unhurried, and family friendly. Siblings are welcome. Questions are always encouraged. You will never leave a visit without understanding what I found and what we're working toward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions about pediatric chiropractic care experience, answered.

  • Yes, absolutely. Pediatric chiropractic is one of the safest, most gentle forms of care available for infants and children. I have hundreds of hours of continuing education specifically in pediatric care, and the techniques I use are adapted entirely to a child's size, age, and nervous system. The forces used are minimal and the approach is always led by what the child is comfortable with.

  • This is such a common question, and it reflects exactly the kind of proactive thinking that serves families well. The truth is that "fine" and "optimal" are two different things. Many babies who appear fine are actually holding onto tension from the birth process that can quietly affect feeding, sleep, digestion, and development. A nervous system assessment can give us a clear picture of how things are actually functioning, not just how they appear on the surface.

  • Most children can benefit from having their nervous system checked, not because something is necessarily wrong, but because a healthy brain-body connection is foundational to how kids grow, develop, and adapt to the world around them. An initial assessment and nervous system scan will give us a clear picture of how well your child is adapting to stress and where they might benefit from some extra support. From there we make a plan that makes sense for your family. I also work alongside other practitioners and will always refer out when something falls outside the scope of what chiropractic can offer.

  • I see babies from their very first days of life. There is no minimum age. In fact, some of the most meaningful care I provide is in those early weeks when the nervous system is most responsive and the window for supporting healthy development is wide open.
