Intro
Welcome to The Postnatal Running Program
Congratulations and welcome to The Postnatal Running Program, this is such an amazing and wonderful time for you! But I also know that it can also be a scary and overwhelming time. After giving birth your body might look and feel a little different than before you became pregnant, and remember that is okay! This is a new chapter in your life and it is the perfect time to reconnect with your body, work on muscle imbalances and learn to love the new you. As you can imagine getting back into running might be a little harder than a normal running break you might have taken in the past. That’s why I decided to make this running program, to help guide you back into running in the safest and fastest way possible.
During pregnancy your body goes through many changes, your center of gravity shifts, a hormone called relaxin loosens the laxity of your ligaments and any muscle imbalances you may have tend to be magnified. If you suffered from any aches or pains during pregnancy, especially if you have never had that pain before, it is a sign that you might have underlying muscle imbalances. Instead of looking at it in a negative way, think of it as an area you should spend extra time rehabilitating to make you even stronger than what you were before pregnancy.
